The Irrepressible.info campaign has achieved an unprecedented response.
Almost 60,000 people have joined together to show their belief in freedom of expression on the internet.
In November 2006 Amnesty International (AI) presented this petition to the UN Secretary General’s Special Adviser on Internet Governance at a UN forum as concrete proof.
As a result, freedom of expression online dominated the agenda of the forum.
AI will now continue to put pressure on corporations to change their policies and on governments to ensure that the power of the Internet is not used as a tool of repression.
